Unitarian Universalist Church Augusta, Maine The Master Plan for the current Unitarian Church in Augusta calls for a phased renovation and addition to the existing Church, Annex and a recently acquired adjacent property. In the first phase a new Fellowship Hall will be built and the existing Annex will be renovated to provide new classrooms and meeting spaces. In Phase 2 the existing church will be replaced with a new sanctuary and classrooms on three levels. The lower level will be accessed by a sunken courtyard from the main entry.
The multi-phased project has been carefully designed to allow the new additions to function in the interim with the existing buildings and then ulitimately form part of a complete new building assembly in the second phase.
The building is designed to LEED building standards and includes passive solar heating, a green roof and high energy efficient building, mechanical and electrical systems.
